How to get a flawless makeup finish in 5 steps!

Ever sometimes think ‘How does she get such a flawless finish?!’  Well I’m here to tell you she most likely preps – unless she is one of those with perfect skin!

If you’re not getting the best finish after applying your makeup you could be missing some crucial steps in your makeup prep regime…. if you are following all these steps and still not finding your makeup finish flawless, it could be you are using the wrong skin care.

First thing first, let’s check if you follow the ultimate steps for a flawless makeup finish:

1. PREPARE your  SKIN

CLEANSE your skin and remember to EXFOLIATE 2-3 times per week (depending on your exfoliation system it can be more).

This is such an important part as it assists helping to break down and remove the dead skin cells which our body naturally sheds and helps to promote new cells for a plumpier (I know this isn’t a word and I’m owning it), fuller, youthful looking skin.

2. Apply a SERUM

Everyone should be apply a serum morning and night no matter how old you are, what skin type you have (see products for oily skin).  Serums assist with many different skin concerns like dehydration, sensitivity, redness, anti-ageing, brightening, pigmentation, acne and wrinkles the list goes on.Think of a serum as a treatment which its treating the lower layers of your skin on a deeper level as it’s treating a specific concern you may have.  You can even get a serum that is targeted for your eyes to vamp up your skin regime!  Highly recommended using one.If you don’t have a concern, stick to a hydrating serum as we all lack hydration no matter if you’re an oily skin type.

3. EYE CREAM

This is another important step as the skin around the eye is the most delicate part on our body.  The skin is thin and needs plenty of tender love and care so again, if you’re concerned with dehydration, sensitivity or anti-ageing! There is an eye cream out there everyone even if it is to just nourish and keep it looking youthful.

4. Seal with a MOISTURISER!

Many of us think that this is our treatment.  Well unfortunately it’s not. Moisturising assists with sealing our serums and eye creams to create a barrier protection and work on the upper layers of our skin.  Moisturisers will not treat skin concerns – they will assist slightly but you won’t get results like using a serum with it.One of the most important steps if you’re heading out during the day… SUNSCREEN.  Some moisturisers have an SPF in them but there are many different brands of sunscreens perfect for under your make up!  I know that some people can tend to have irritations from wearing SPF, if this is the case for you, go with a complete natural brand! Something like (Name brand) All sunscreens contain different ingredients but are either a physical or chemical (see different types of sunscreens).  Find out which one best suits you.If you’re heading out of the day and you don’t want flash back there are brands out there that protect you without flash back so you can get that perfect picture!  (See Best Brands of Sunscreens).

5. Prep your base with PRIMER!

Now there are many different primers out there so again use one for your concerns.  Are you concerned with redness?  Do you want something that will assist with staying all day? Oil free? Evening out your skin tone? Luminosity? Bronzed goddess? Hydration? Or whatever your concern may be!  Some brands give you a two in one benefit – applying it over your eyes without having to buy an eye primer! With these 5 steps, your are on the way to having a flawless finish!

Now you you’re ready to apply your foundation using either your hands or one of your favourite foundation tools!

Personally I like to use my hands gently applying in circular motions upwards for a light application first.  Then with my index or middle finger, I gently pat extra foundation to add more coverage on areas needed. But if you’re using a brush, same application, gently in circular motions and upwards always! Think gravity ladies!
