Ways to love your skin this Winter

During the colder months, we seem to neglect our bodies a lot more than the warmer months.  Just because it’s winter, we have the tendency to wear clothes that hide all our body parts and we forget that our skin still needs of some TLC (tender, love and care).We seem to forget that it is the biggest organ of our body and although we might eat healthy, take our supplements and exercise, our skin still needs nourishing from the outside just like the inside!Winter is actually the best time to get your skin looking its best for summer so you can bare all and feel confident while doing so.  So here are some tips that can help you to get your skin looking fabulous!

Cut on long hot showers

1. Stop having long hot showers!

Some of us are guilty of this – I am sometimes! Though hot showers for long periods of time strips the natural oils your skin produces which can be the cause of dry, flaky, sensitive and irritated skin.

When showering, never let the shower hit your face directly. It can cause broken capillaries and skin issues that can be avoided.

Exfoliate often

2. Exfoliate 1 to 3 times per week!

If you are someone who has super sensitive skin, I would recommend to exfoliate once per week. There are some amazing products that will assist in correcting skin concerns issues.

For all other skin types anywhere from 2 to 3 times per week is more than enough. Some products may be safe to use daily. Always follow the directions provided especially if you are purchasing body care products that are high in active ingredients.

No harsh singredients

3. NO HARSH INGREDIENTS that strip your skin!  

Do you read the ingredients of the products you buy? Some products contain ingredients that will strip your natural oils away, in winter, our skin drys out and this is a time we don’t want to be stripping our natural skins oil. Using a gentle wash, this will help to minimise dryness, sensitivity, itchiness and all those other annoying things that can irritate your skin in the colder months.

Side Note: Pat dry and don’t rub!  Remember it’s OK to leave some water on your skin as this puts moisture back into it.

Moisturise obsessively in winter

4. Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise! 

This is a must after every single shower.  Especially if your skin tends to get dry, flaky, sensitive and irritated.

At least once a day we should be applying moisture back into our skin. There are many types of body moisturisers, one that assist in ageing, hydration, skin irritation, fragrance free, etc. So again, stick to a product that best suits your skins needs.

Moisturising after every shower benefits your skin in the long run. Your skin will look healthy and fresh, while feeling soft and smooth. Always remember to moisturise your feet to assist and prevent dryness and cracking.

5. Get regular skin treatments

And remember the better care we take of our skin, the more confident and alive we will feel within ourselves.  So ladies, it’s now time to start taking care of that beautiful body you’re rocking! Xo
